Yesterday I had a older woman on the phone at work. The first part of our approx. 20 minute conversation was her trying to figure out what my name was.
Me: [Instert company greeting here.] "This is Jenae."
Customer: "Hello Denae, this is [so and so] I have a few questions."
Me: "Ok how can I help you?"
Customer: "Is it... is it Denae?"
Me: "No it's Jenae."
Customer: "Denae, with a D as in Dog?"
Me: "No Jenae as in-"
Customer: "OH J as in Janet!"
Me: "Uhm, yes."
Customer: "Ok Jenae!"
This was the last time in those twenty minutes she pronounced it right. After that she went back to calling me Denae.
And she was a name user. You know the type.
Every time she asked a question she was like, "So, Denae, say I needed to..."
"Ok Denae, if I did this..."
"Thanks so much Denae..."
Like... why waste all that time trying to figure out how my name is pronounced if you just decide to call me by a different name?
People frustrate me.
On a side note, my co worker loved it. She was dying listening to my phone conversation.
