The Fire Pit of Awesome

Today was a busy day!
We finally got some stuff done.

The Fire Pit

We've had this awful rusty fire pit since we bought the house.
I've always disliked it, it was small and just... shabby looking.

Awhile back I found a pin on Pinterest about how to build your own cool looking fire pit.
I showed it to Mike and he was in.
We procrastinated on it all last summer.
Last weekend we thought we were going to do it, but we just didn't have it quite figured out yet.
TODAY WAS THE DAY.

This is the old one.

Nice Rust details.
So Small.

The first thing we did was try to create a circle.
Which is harder than it sounds.
It was a little bit of an oval for awhile.

Once we thought we had a circle we dug it out.

Mike added gravel that he had stolen from the road for the base.
Then we put the stones back in a circle-ish formation.

Circles are not easy.

Once the first circle was complete building off of it was super quick.

All things considered this project took less than two hours.

Here's the old pit in the new one, for scale.
(Mike's idea.)

The old and the new.

LOOK HOW NICE.

I'm so glad it is done!
We have a bad habit of starting projects but never finishing them.
It really stresses me out. It was really nice to finally start and complete one in the same day.

Sunflower Update

I'm getting little sprouts!

There is only one little sprout from the 10 foot sunflower corner though. Hopefully they are coming.

Bluebird House

We bought a little bluebird house awhile back. We have a few bluebirds, I wanted them to have a nice home. We just kind of stuck it in an empty spot and are hoping for the best.
